Who We Are

Illumitex is a US-based LED manufacturing company founded in 2005 by imaging and optics industry veterans.  We shared a vision for LED lighting products that would save energy and improve the quality of life around the world. Since raising startup capital in 2007 and a larger round in early 2008, Illumitex has proven itself to the clean tech community as one of the most innovative and transformative companies in the lighting field. 

 

Rapid adoption of energy saving products only occurs when there is an increase in the competitive advantages and desirability of new, innovative products, such as the ones Illumitex creates.  The elegantly simple science for our initial product utilizes fundamental optical physics in order to achieve greater system efficiency, creating an LED that delivers more "usable lumens" on target. 

 

The aspirations of Illumitex, however, only begin with this first LED product. We are developing products that aim to perform above 200 lm/W, pushing LEDs into general illumination and thereby cutting the total energy consumption of the US by more than 10%. We enable laptop batteries to last hours longer by reducing the energy needed to light the screen, projection systems so small that we will see them in our mobile devices, or an overhead light that matches the brightness of a 75W bulb using only 5W of power. Illumitex’s vision will allow people to buy better products that reduce energy consumption, enhance quality of life, and improve the planet.
